Philippine Chief Justice Impeached

An impeachment for a Chief Justice is the first time that happened in Philippines. Many are talking about impeachment but do we know what is the meaning of impeachment? The people and the society when in a democratic country, has all the rights to let a high ranking official to have a fair trial for a case filed against him or her. The impeachment trial is to decide if the defendant will be removed from his or her position and/or other punishments.

Pictures of the Akbayan Partylist looked like this
A Chief Justice is the highest official in the judicial branch. Judicial branch is one of the three branches of the government which supreme court is included. The Senators are to vote if CJ Corona is guilty for betrayal to the country by not declaring a 2.4 million and other bank accounts in his SALN. SALN is a form wherein, each officials and staffs of the government should declare their liabilities and assets. This is to provide transparency for all their account, to avoid any unexplained increase in accounts.  Today, the 28th of May, is the day the 23 Senators will give their verdict to the defendant Renato Corona. The event is open to the public, wherein the media will show a live coverage of what are happening to the Senate(the place where impeachment trial occurred).

Each Senators are to vote if the defendant is guilty or not guilty and explain why they choose that verdict. Each of the Senators have different statements. There are some who are obviously inserting self campaign which was I think is inappropriate the trial is not about them it is about CJ Corona. I only watched the trial because I want to hear what each Senator has to say. Mostly, the speeches are boring and often redundant however; there are speeches that made me alive during the whole process.

Here are some of the lines of the Senators that I think is interesting:

  • Alan Cayetano of Nacionalista party- "Pati ba naman pera may diskriminasyon? Nangingibabaw ba ang USD kaysa Peso dito sa ating sariling bansa? (Even with money we still have discrimination? Dollars is dominant with Peso even in our own country?)
                                                                - "If your client can't explain, I can't abstain." (This is to answer his friend that to avoid dilemma he will just choose to abstain.)
  • Miriam Defensor-Santiago- "Huwag kayong magmamalinis. Mga artista kayo, kung lahat tayo honest why is Philippines still one of the top corrupt countries in the world?" (Do not act that you are prim. You are all artists. If we are all honest why is the Philippines still one of the top corrupt countries in the world?")
  • Chiz Escudero- "Let us move on and move forward. Let us all work for the betterment. After this, hindi naman lahat ng mahihirap biglang yayaman. Hindi naman biglang gagaling ang may sakit." (Let us move on and move forward. Let us all work for the betterment. After this trial, not all poor will suddenly become rich. Not all sick will be healed.)
  •  Lito Lapid- "Hindi ako pwedeng mag-sabi sabi ng Republic Act sa mga rason ko dahil high school graduate lang ako, ayaw kung mag mamarunong, conscience ko ang pina-iral ko dito." (I do not want to mention Republic Acts in my reason because I am only a high school graduate. I do not want to act as if I know about the Constitution. My vote is based on my conscience.)

  •  Ralph Recto- "After this, let's all pull the plug of the telenovela. Let us work again away from the cameras. If you think what we have done here is Herculean, you are innocent. It is easy to impeach one man but we cant work to impeach hunger and impeach joblessness. As we have our trial today 1 out 3 are hungry, 1 out 3 have all the time to watch because they do not have a job, 5 of 10 are poor and 80% do not have a bank account."
  • Antonio Trillanes- "From now on no one is untouchable."
  •  Manny Villar- "Dahan-dahan kayo sa pagwasak ng pangalan ng tao." (Go slow, in destroying a man's name.)
With a 19 to 3 votes, CJ Corona is guilty of Article 2, wherein it talks about the failure of declaring true assets and liabilities. The defendant is guilty, so what now? Who's next? Will there be change? Will corruption vanish? These questions can only be answered in the future however; I doubt if corruption will be healed.

Drug Abuse: Definitely a FOE

Number of drug abuse are now increasing in number. I know friends that are using illegal drugs. Statistics for drug abuse is not accurate because nobody wants to expose that they are using an illegal drug. Using illegal drugs have many consequences in the future. The drug was announced as regulated drugs because of their side effects.

I can not understand why many are still using even if they know that this can destroy their future and their lives. What is it with the people and our society today? Here, in our country even women are using illegal drugs. In the news report, even a pregnant woman was caught using an illegal drug. What were they thinking? Is this the situation we want for our future generation to inherit? To hallucinate that they have luxurious life yet they are living in a dump?

We are responsible for our world, our next generation. We should not play around and things up for them. We do not need illegal drugs to feel that can fly, we can fly when we want to. We do not to hallucinate things, we need to make it come true. Fight temptation, stop curiosity, do not try illegal drugs. Let us all be PRODUCTIVE!

My View on Afghanistan Schoolgirls Scare

All over the world, women are still not as free as men. Patriarchy is still at large.Women are not yet accepted by the people and society as equal to men. Women are still viewed as weaker version of men.

Recently, in Afghanistan 125 school girls, aging from 15-18 are poisoned. Allegedly, perpetrators are the protesters who do not want women to be educated. This is to scare women to go to school. Afghanistan is not the only country wherein women are not permitted to go to school and be educated.

I wonder, why is it an insult when women will be educated? For me, it is an insult when women are not allowed to learn. Women are not slaves wherein they only do household chores only while men are surrounded by knowledge everyday.

I know that wisdom is better than knowledge but knowledge is something that everybody must possess. It is something that MUST be shared. The more knowledgeable women are, the less the number of the dependency ratio and the independent ratio. It means the more productive our community will become.

In conclusion, I am a 101% sure that the world will be a better place to live if men and women are all educated. For you, what will be your say on this matter? Just comment below. :)

Teenagers Worry

When I opened my Facebook account yesterday, I saw and read a status from a 15 years old girl that talks about intercourse at a very early age. My first was like, what? Call me conservative but when I am in my teenager age I do not think about passionate things. I may be conservative but I think each person should love the moments when they still have the energy to do things, not to do things that are inappropriate and then when they get pregnant they become helpless. I am worrying about my grades. I am worrying on what course should I take for my college education. What is it with our generation today? People and society indeed changes.

Anger's True Form

What anger can really do? Sometimes there are people who really needs to have an anger management to cure their problem. In our world today, it is not rare to find a nurse being hit by their patients, it is not rare to have riot in an airport and it is not anymore new if someone has been killed because of traffic problems. It is sad to say that this world is nearly ruled by ANGER.

Anger often leads to violence. It does not need to choose who to pick and not to pick. More and more women now a days are being domestically abused because of their husbands anger. An increasing number of street fights are now reported because of simple misunderstandings. Is the world we want our future generation to have? A world full of violence?

Anger is a normal feeling. It is ironic of me if I would exclude myself from this emotion however, we can express anger differently. We can use anger as an inspiration not as a means for revenge. For misunderstandings we can talk it out. There is no need to shout at each other, there is no need to physically ruin each other. Shouting and strangling each other in a crowd is one way of being scandalous. As what a quote says "Patience is a virtue." Let us all build a more peaceful world for ourselves and our generation. Let us be models for the younger ones.

A Lesson in Life

“All work and no play makes a dull boy.” This quote got me thinking early this morning. For the past few weeks I have been working and I even do not have time to go out and mingle with my friends. I can even feel stagnant. Obviously for the past few weeks I did not meet new acquaintances except in the virtual world. I am officially having an introvert personality.

Enjoy Life!
Before I come to that point(not to offend introverts it’s just I want to enjoy life) I decided to go with my old friends to a “pool party”. Everything went right and I feel I am now fully charged I can work again with my projects.

Lesson learned: Learn to live your life. Do not be a bore. When you are alone you will forever succumb in darkness, of course there are times that we need time for ourselves. We do not come in this world alone. You have two ears so that you can hear what the person in the right side of you is saying and so as your left side. Mostly, psychiatric patients are those of little support system. Do not be one of them. Let’s live life and live among with people.

Does Justice Exist?

Since from the very start I am not really a fan of this so called "Justice". Criminal acts are increasing each day all over the world. In United States alone there are about 11 million of recorded crimes according to the 2010's statistics.

In that number of crime are we sure that each one of those crimes are being solved? Are we sure that those that are held prisoners are the ones who made the crime? In Philippines, even President Noynoy Aquino admitted that he do not want to implement punishment such as death sentence to a grave criminal acts because the justice system is not very accurate and reliable.

Is it really of the same weight?
He really made a good point in his stand. There are prisoners out there who have been set up. Most prisoners are those who can not afford to give money to the judge and make the decision be on his or her side. The world no matter what we do, they are always one sided. Mostly those people who are already rich will become richer and those people who are poor become poorer.

As long as selfishness is around there will be no fair justice to each and everyone. We are just living in a fantasy when we say that justice is fair to everyone. Being corrupt and having selfish intentions are diseases that we can not cure in just a short period of time. I am not saying that we take matters in our own hands and punish those who we think are capable of doing crimes. The only fair judge is the one up above and who is the one who has right to judge each one of us.

My Belief on Letting Go

Why do we hold on things that are important to us? Most of the people in our population often has something that we hold dear. Often these are things that are given to us by our love ones. Being sentimental to a thing varies from each individual. It is subjective to different individuals.

One of the most painful thing to give up is your very first house. Giving up your house is a very sad idea for some specially those that worked so hard to attain that possession. In every situation there are different solutions just like a road. There are so many roads, often you just have to choose the one that will lead you straight to your destination. One solution for your house is to transform it into a rental house through this, you do not have to give up your house and you even have money for your needs.

It is a nature of every human to gratify each need though sometimes there are things that we really have to give up. A bunch of clothes that does not fit to you needs to thrown away from your closet in exchange for clothes that fits to you well.

In conclusion, in dealing with a loss we should all be calm. It is not the end of the world, change is the only thing constant in this world. When you lose someone just think that another one will come and this time this is the one who fits well with you.

A Trampled Aspiration

A woman can produce offspring
From my previous post I am sure that I said that I am not a feminist, well I take that back. I am now confirmed that I need to defend my gender. I need to speak and let people hear and fully comprehend.

Honestly speaking I do not have any problem with homosexuals I do believe that we live harmoniously in a parallel world. The events lately  bugged my mind when Mr. Trump announced that trans genders can now join the Miss Universe.

Miss Universe is the most prestigious pageant a woman can achieve in her life. The aspiration of every woman to be named as the next Miss Universe. The aspiration of each and every woman in the world to be known as the most beautiful, elegant and intelligent. To be named as Miss Universe is one of the most prestigious award a woman can have.

If trans genders will now join the said contest it will the biggest insult for women. I am 101% sure that most self esteem of women will be crushed. Women are now struggling on how fat they are, when will their wrinkles show and now they have to worry if they are more beautiful than a cross dresser.

Genetically and morally speaking, trans genders are still men. They do not have the capability a woman has. A woman can give true happiness to a man by giving them their daughter or son. I hope the world will realize someday that women has many things to worry, please do not add to that.

Gender Discrimination Still Exists

Women are being women and men should be men as well.
A question popped out in my mind earlier today when I was in the mall and what I commonly saw were women. I just wondered why women are increasing in number and why not even one became a President of United States.  I am do not agree with feminism totally but I think even many claim that women are treated equally with men, gender discrimination remains at large.

Many believe that we are already in a liberated world and gender discrimination is uncommon. Well, you have to rethink if you have the same belief with that statement. Gender discrimination is still happening in our everyday lives. Even now uneducated women are still greater in number than uneducated men. Men are often a gender preferred by employers. According to the latest UN statistics dated on 2009, Egypt has 5.2 men unemployed while 22.9 women are unemployed and more nations has the same statistical trends with Egypt.

Blurred pieces of information are now becoming clearer to me. How silly of me to wonder why no woman succeeded to become a President in a strong country such as United States. Check out the percentage of women in high government positions. Mostly it does not even reach up to 50% or more. When a woman becomes a nation’s President the countrymen will divide into two opinions. One opinion is they will be impressed that a woman is in a high position and another is to criticize and think that she is weak to make decisions for the country. They often think that her decisions will be affected by the people who surrounds her. It is true that women often show emotions than men but this does not mean that women are weaker than men.

Patriarchy is still in the mind of almost every people. I can not blame from them because it has been that way for so many centuries. I am still hopeful that someday women can work in a job that is particularly for men. I know that we just have to wait and by the looks of it we are now in progress. Women working as police and military personnel to provide the security to citizens. It is a slow progress but someday all jobs does not need to be tagged as for a man or a woman.

In conclusion, to this lengthy post, the world is not only for men nor for women. We should learn to live with each other. We are created individually with a purpose thus a women versus men is a silly issue from the very beginning. We are created to live in harmony with each other.

Journey to a Greener Pasture

Brain drain is not very new to us now a days, it has been happening for a century or so. Underdeveloped and rural places are the very ones who are affected by this trend. Many if not most of all educated and well off individuals choose to live and find a job in the city. In Philippines alone the number of overseas workers are almost 10 million.

These workers are often not to blame. There are many factors why brain drain is still existing now a days. Often professionals such as doctors and teachers do not want to work in a rural area because of underpaid salaries. It is not all the time people will do the act of service. They too have their own families to feed.  There are countries often are the developed countries give good salaries compared to third world countries. I do not believe that campaigns on decreasing the number of migrating productive individuals are being pushed through. Ceasing the brain drain trend from existence is not a very hard problem if the government and its people will unite.

Greener pastures are those areas you care the most
There are many ways to make this problem vanish. One is to increase the wages of teachers, nurses, health care workers and other professionals that are in the rural area. These mentioned professionals are very important in producing a productive citizen. Excellent teachers will eventually produce good students. Good nurses and doctors will be in charge of providing accessible and efficient therapeutic interventions to those who are having health needs and even to those who have health risks. Campaigning for wide spread patriotism can also be a solution to this problem. Sometimes we just have to be creative on how we can earn and help our community at the same time.

Budget is never a problem. Instead of fixing not so destroyed roads why not give that budget for compensation of rural services. Fixing national roads that cause no problem at all just to impress their constituents solve the problem. Dealing on political issues until the end of term of a government official and blaming each other is also not the solution of this problem. Resolving conflicts to war is definitely not a solution.

We do not need new nurses, new doctors, new pilots and most specially we do not need a new president and other government officials. We just need to be involved. As what my teacher said in our lecture one time America or other countries is not a greener environment. We just have to water our land to make ours become greener.

World Peace: Undeniably Impossible

Do you really think war will end someday and peace will reign all over the world? Unlike viruses peace will never spread throughout and encrypt to humanity. The world without war is like paradise for the once who are in it and to the future generation however this will never come true. I am not usually a pessimist but what I saw in news everyday made me lose hope. News that includes countries fighting with each other, strikes and civil wars within a country. Crimes are increasing in number each day.

Have inner peace.
As quoted from George Bernard Shaw “You'll never have a quiet world till you knock the patriotism out of the human race.” I totally agree with this quote, often patriotism is the root of war. Individuals are so focused in being patriotic that they lost the interest to have peace. Everybody wanted to protect almost everything they love which is often the cause of war.

Who among you does not want peace? World peace can start from yourself. Having a quarrel with your neighbor early in the morning is not a good way to start a peaceful world. Being selfish and thinking only for your own happiness is not a way to start a peaceful world.

Sad to say but often reality hurts. Selfishness and conflicts will never be gone in between each individual. As long as there is something to achieve everyone will fight to reach the highest step of the ladder. Think of it as a small office that has employees of the same position eventually each worker will think of ways on how to increase their rank and be promoted. As time goes by conflicts will appear. I am not saying we should be laid back and not achieve our goals in life. I am just showing the point where war often starts and how world peace will never occur. In conclusion, world peace is just a mere imagination however, we can be peaceful in our own way. We can live with peace in our hearts and surroundings by avoiding conflicts as much as possible.

How to Make Your Present Relationship Good and Last Longer

Now a days having a long term relationship before marriage is a common trend. In the latest survey of Dr. Helen Fisher in the year 2011 shows that 72% of singles would want to have a long term relationship than to get married. This is common because individuals tend to think they marriage will always end to breaking up however, being married and being together for a long time has a similarities. You can see each others face in the morning and you have the commitment with your partner.

Show your love for each other
If you are in a relationship right now and you want to last that relationship long you must put extra effort on that relationship. I am not cupid but I can give you tips for a good and long lasting relationship. What matters most is BE OPTIMISTIC. Never think that you both will just end up into breaking up. Through this you will have the inspiration to make the relationship work.

Another tip is to SHOW YOUR PARTNER your love.Even little gestures matters. You can make your partner a breakfast in bed during weekends if you both do not have work or have a nice dinner after a long busy day. This way you can both catch up with your day’s work. You can also go together in a bar a have fun with your common friends.

Be a mystery, in this way you both will not predictable. Surprise your partner once in a while. Be adventurous and creative. You can try things both you have not done before. You can have your summer in somewhere and explore together. Enjoy life together when you both have the time.

This can not be done if only one is working hard to make the relationship last. As what people say “It takes two to tango.” You should share the same effort to keep your relationship stronger. If you are the one only making things go well then you should think twice. There are certain events that are for you and some are not. You can always find someone who is right for you. He may not yet come but God is still molding your perfect partner.
