Gender Discrimination Still Exists

Women are being women and men should be men as well.
A question popped out in my mind earlier today when I was in the mall and what I commonly saw were women. I just wondered why women are increasing in number and why not even one became a President of United States.  I am do not agree with feminism totally but I think even many claim that women are treated equally with men, gender discrimination remains at large.

Many believe that we are already in a liberated world and gender discrimination is uncommon. Well, you have to rethink if you have the same belief with that statement. Gender discrimination is still happening in our everyday lives. Even now uneducated women are still greater in number than uneducated men. Men are often a gender preferred by employers. According to the latest UN statistics dated on 2009, Egypt has 5.2 men unemployed while 22.9 women are unemployed and more nations has the same statistical trends with Egypt.

Blurred pieces of information are now becoming clearer to me. How silly of me to wonder why no woman succeeded to become a President in a strong country such as United States. Check out the percentage of women in high government positions. Mostly it does not even reach up to 50% or more. When a woman becomes a nation’s President the countrymen will divide into two opinions. One opinion is they will be impressed that a woman is in a high position and another is to criticize and think that she is weak to make decisions for the country. They often think that her decisions will be affected by the people who surrounds her. It is true that women often show emotions than men but this does not mean that women are weaker than men.

Patriarchy is still in the mind of almost every people. I can not blame from them because it has been that way for so many centuries. I am still hopeful that someday women can work in a job that is particularly for men. I know that we just have to wait and by the looks of it we are now in progress. Women working as police and military personnel to provide the security to citizens. It is a slow progress but someday all jobs does not need to be tagged as for a man or a woman.

In conclusion, to this lengthy post, the world is not only for men nor for women. We should learn to live with each other. We are created individually with a purpose thus a women versus men is a silly issue from the very beginning. We are created to live in harmony with each other.
